Revenue is growing faster than the number of coaches

The global coaching industry reached $5.34 billion in 2025 across 122,974 active professional coaches. Two years earlier it was $4.56 billion across 109,200.

Revenue outpacing headcount is the useful part. It means the work is getting better paid rather than simply more crowded, which is the opposite of what most coaches assume when they see how many new coaches appear each year.

What rose

Average hourly fees went from $214 to $234. Average clients per coach went from 11.2 to 12.4. Average revenue per coach went from $41,791 to $49,283, a rise of about 18%.

Forward projections put the market at $6.25 to $7.5 billion by 2026 to 2028.

The distribution still dominates

None of that changes how unevenly the money sits. The median US coach earns $71,719. The bottom quarter earns under $25,000 and the top tenth earns above $160,000.

A rising market does not distribute itself evenly, and niche, pricing model and business structure explain far more of the variance than the market’s growth rate does.
